glock 19 grip width

Glock 19 Grip Width - We often hear the word "revolutionary" associated with new products in the firearms world. However, the number of handguns actually revolutionizing the firearms industry is quite small.

When Glock introduced the G17, it really changed everything we thought we knew about handguns. The company quickly followed up with its little brother, the Glock 19. There are some subtle (and not so subtle) differences between the two pistols. In this post, we'll take a look at them and see how they stack up against each other.

Gaston Glock designed the Glock Model 17 in the early 1980s to be a contender as the new 9mm service pistol of the Austrian army. It was not the first production pistol to use a polymer frame (that honor goes to the H&K VP70), nor was it the first pistol to use a striker-fired action. The genius of the Glock 17 was in how it took those elements and combined them into a simple, easy-to-maintain pistol that was light and accurate.

The model 19 was the third pistol that Glock produced. (The Model 18 is a version of the Model 17 designed for an Austrian anti-terrorist unit with an option for full automatic fire). It takes all the features and functions of the Glock 17 and scales them down a bit, creating a more compact pistol that is easier to transport.

As mentioned, Glock originally designed the Model 17l for the Austrian military. As such, it was meant to be worn by soldiers in the field. Its accuracy, durability and light weight have made it an attractive choice for people. But many shooters needed a slightly smaller gun.

Over the years, Glock has updated the design of its pistols. They added features like textured grips and finger grooves for a better grip, as well as interchangeable back straps for a better fit in the hand. In the latest Gen 5 models, they also slightly changed the internal mechanism. For our comparison, we looked at the Gen 4 Model 17 and Model 19. Both have proven to be consistent and reliable performers for civilian, military and law enforcement agencies.

In your hand, there are few differences between the Glock 17 and Glock 19. The pistols feel essentially the same, although the Model 19 has a slightly shorter grip.

Glock G19 Gen4 Vs Glock G43x Size Comparison

The two guns have the same width (1.26 inches) and the same distance from the rear of the slide to the ejection port. Both the Gen 4 Model 17 and Model 19 have interchangeable backstraps, although the Model 17 backstraps do not fit the Model 19 and vice versa. The Glock 19 in our photos is my personal Model 19. It has a rear strap with a small extension near the slide that is different from the one used by the Model 17.

The height of the two guns is also different. The standard Glock 17 magazine holds 17 rounds, while the standard Glock 19 magazine holds 15 rounds. At 5.47 inches, the Model 17 has a frame just under half the height of the Model 19's 5.04 inches. The Model 17 weighs 32.3 ounces unloaded. The smallest model 19 weighs 23.6 oz.

The barrel and slide length is where we see the biggest difference between the Glock 17 and the Glock 19. The Gen 4 Model 17 has a slide length of 7.32 inches and a barrel length of 4.49 inches. The Glock 19 has a slide length of 6.85 inches and a barrel length of 4.02 inches.

Due to the different barrel and slide lengths, the recoil springs are not interchangeable between the two. However, all fire control parts in the frame can be interchanged between the two guns.

Glock 45 In 9 Mm Luger, Test Firing The Crossover Pistol Between Glock 17 And Glock 19

We tested the Glock 17 and Glock 19 for accuracy using three commonly available brands of 9mm ammunition:

Both guns were fired from a stand at a target 15 yards away. We tested average velocity and average group size with a ProChrono Digital chronograph that was installed just past the muzzle of each pistol. The temperature was 85 degrees during the test with 85% humidity.

The heavier Glock 17s made it seem more controllable under recoil than the Glock 19. However, both pistols performed excellently in our accuracy tests. The longer barrel of the Glock 17 allows more powder to be burned inside the cartridge while it is still in the rifling of the barrel. This resulted in slightly higher muzzle velocities for the Glock 17 than the Glock 19.

Since the Glock 17's military inception, it has found a home in police holsters around the world. Weighing just over two pounds, it revolutionized what a service pistol could be.

However, the Glock 17 was never meant to be carried concealed. The taller frame of the Model 17 means that the butt of the pistol sticks out a bit more under concealed clothing. This makes it a challenge to hide. In recent years, however, the rise in popularity of the in-waist holster (AIWB) has prompted an increase in interest in using the Glock 17 as a concealed carry pistol. A longer, taller pistol is quite comfortable to carry in that position.

With 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition in its magazine, a four-inch barrel, decent trigger pull and compact size, the Glock 19 is one of the best pistols around for concealed carry. It is easy to conceal at the waist, has an incredible range of accessories available and has a reputation for reliability that most other guns on the market wish they had.

However, the two extra rounds in the Glock 17 give it a slight advantage in firepower over the Glock 19. The Glock 17's slightly longer slide (and therefore longer target radius) also gives the Glock 17 a slight advantage in terms of accuracy.

It all depends on what you are looking for. If you want a gun to defend your home, you probably won't find anything better than the Glock 17. It's a gun that also performs well in practical shooting competitions. For everyday concealed carry, practice and training, the Glock 19 is pretty much the standard by which all other compact 9mm pistols are judged. Either way, you end up with a reliable and accurate pistol that has been the market leader for decades.

Glock makes some of the best handguns in the world used by military, law enforcement and civilians around the world. While all of their pistols are very popular, the Glock 17 and Glock 19 probably take the top spots.

Both of these guns are very capable and effective. They are both chambered in 9mm and use similar designs, materials and testing standards. However, they also have clear differences that set them apart.

So, today we're going to pit the two best and most popular handguns, the Glock 17 and 19, against each other and try to answer which one you should get.

*G17 and G19 have many generation models. In this article, we will compare the GEN5 factory models.

In many ways, the Glock 17 and 19 are the same. However, the Glock 17 is a full-sized pistol and the Glock 19 is a more compact or mid-sized pistol. They fire the same caliber, have identical triggers, and have the same rifle barrel; however, the Glock 19, being a more compact pistol, has a shorter barrel, grip and slide.

The Glock 17 has a 4.48" (114mm) barrel, while the Glock 19 has a 4" (102mm) barrel. With the shorter barrel, the overall length of the Glock 19 is also shorter. It is 7.28 inches (185 mm) compared to the Glock 17's 8.03 inches (204 mm).

When it comes to concealment, which is what most compact handguns are designed for, grip height is a more critical factor than slide length. Therefore the difference in grip size is more significant than the difference in barrel length. The Glock 19 has a grip height of 5.04 inches (128 mm), with the magazine included, while the Glock 17 has a grip height of 6.50 inches (165 mm). In terms of slide width and overall width, the Glock 17 and 19 are the same size.

Both felt recoil and accuracy usually depend on the shooter. However, in terms of pistol capability, both the Glock 17 and 19 are very accurate even in the hands of an average shooter. Technically, since the barrel of the Glock 17 is longer,
